A man who died after being shot in the head while on duty at a Cooke police station was his wife, police said Monday.
The man, identified by the department as 51-year-old Brian Kline, was found by the front desk at around 10 p.m. on Saturday, the department said in a statement.
“A male employee, who was an officer on duty in the station at the time of the incident, reported hearing a gunshot and saw a male subject lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head,” the statement said.
He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
The department did not release a name.
The department’s investigation is ongoing.
The Cooke County Sheriff’s Office said in its statement that it was “aware of the death of the male officer” and that the department was conducting an internal investigation.
