By MICHAEL KALIMAN-DIAZ Posted Mar 08, 2020 06:09:52A Hungarian policeman has been sentenced to six months in prison for insulting the cartoonist that drew the figure of a policeman on the front of his uniform.
Hamburg police said on Saturday that the cartoon was a public order violation and that it had already filed an appeal against the sentence.
It was not immediately clear whether the case would be appealed.
The Hungarian government has not responded to repeated requests for comment from The Associated Press.
The country has seen a surge in anti-government protests this year that have turned violent.
