Last week, a man was sentenced to 12 years and eight months in jail for his role in an illegal gun battle between police and gang members at the Westpac Centre in Brisbane.
The incident was captured on CCTV and led to a gangland shooting and murder of one man, who was killed.
In July this year, police arrested the son of a convicted gun dealer for the murder of a man who was shot and killed during an armed standoff at a house in Brisbane’s north-east.
Police are still trying to establish the motive for the killing of a 32-year-old man in December last year.
Two years ago, an off-duty NSW police officer was killed during a police operation at the Port Hedland precinct.
It is believed the man was involved in a gun battle with gang members after the off-shore operation.
A third officer was shot dead while he and another man were trying to disarm suspected armed gang members in a suburban Brisbane home.
An off-road motorcycle-riding man is also facing charges for shooting a man in the head during a fight with gang leaders in a suburb of Sydney.
At least three officers have died in the line of duty over the past three years.
